The biggest fault with this book is that I’m gonna have to wait ages for the next book to be published. But in all seriousness a fantastic book that built on the previous book.

Although having said that Saara is running out of people close to the royal family to turn around and betray them.

the only draw back I have with this book is that I’m starting to get frustrated with Lettle

she has a very naïve and simplistic view of the war. Although I do appreciate her standing up for the lightless. I especially dislike her resorting to using the dead obeah cub for the reading - it felt like the was turning her back on the the morals that had developed since entering Mosima

The intriguing plot makes up for the writing's lack of complexity. The youth could probably enjoy this series if the myriad of “spicy” scenes were not included, because it is written at an elementary reading level. While the simplicity of the writing leaves me feeling a bit unfulfilled, I am very excited to read the trilogy's conclusion. It ends with quite the cliffhanger!

It is refreshing to see how this differs from how most fantasy portrays the customs of the elves, fae, and humans. The world-building is fantastic and easy to figure out, even if you're new to the genre. Unfortunately, parts of the narration are unnecessarily trite in rehashing events so much that you don’t have time to forget any details, and the story becomes predictable, too.
