I enjoyed this quick book very much, even though Susannah caused most of her own problems! Novice witch Susannah has been planning and training for years to become a member of a coven. However, on the night of the initiation ceremony, she is instead invaded by Abigail, the spirit of a witch.

In an attempt to send her unwelcome guest away, Susannah tries her hand at a spell, but instead summons the fae, who whisk her away to the fae court. Now Susannah and Abigail need to work together to have any chance for Susannah to return home.

This prequel introduces a series that I am sure will prove to interesting and full of adventure. The main female character is interesting in that she causes a lot of her own problems. I found her a bit difficult to relate to at times because she seems silly at times and arrogant at others - but maybe that is the way of human nature.

Quick read, a great weekend read.

And we got another series to pick up. I like C.K work, there's something gentle to her writing style that lulls you. This is a far story, but I loved the idea of a "voice in your head" trope, it was really good enjoyed it, and it was a nice read.

Revel of chaos!

Revel at the Court of Claws is the prequel of the Season of the Fae Series and the 1st book from C.K. Beggan that I have read. I found Revel at the Court of Claws to be an interesting premise. The MFC, Susannah Wright, I personally found to be annoying with quite an unusual combination of arrogance and naivete. I had a hard time engaging in the beginning, but upon the revelation of the MMC Laurence Lucien, that quickly was not a problem. I definitely wanted to know more about him.

This one did take me a minute or more to get into but by the third chapter, I was hooked. A witch that wants to be all she can be, a witch spirit that doesn’t want to move on, and a Wild Hunt that could bring happiness to a special couple.

This one has elements of Sleeping Beauty in it, fun way to thrown that in, definitely.

Great read, more to come from the author it looks like, so enjoy!.

Not very much like it was described

This story is billed as “spicy”—there is one spicy scene, and not very detailed. It’s billed as a sleeping beauty retelling—I’m not sure why. The FMC isn’t cursed or blessed at birth, she isn’t a princess, she doesn’t experience a long term sleeping spell along with her kingdom, and she isn’t wakened by a prince. This story feels like a prequel to something bigger, but I’m not very interested in finding out what happens next.

This story was just so charming. Susannah’s chance to become a part of her coven is shot by the ritual going wrong and Abigail, a dark witch from the past, latching onto her soul to share her body. That’s just where the fun begins! This has fae romance, happy ever after for everybody, and wonderful characters. I wasn’t what I expected but this quick, spicy read was quite enjoyable!
