The description of this book might be the worst part of the book. It’s not haunting or engrossing. And why they would describe a major plot point that doesn’t happen until a third of the way through feels very odd. Some insightful moments about relationships and families throughout. 3.8

An enjoyable read.

This is not the type of book I usually read, it’s all about the characters. It says it’s a book about marriage, but I thought it was a book about grief, about loving people through all their messiness. I liked the complexity of the characters, but still it felt slow and don’t get me started on the details. They were exhausting and overly bohemian (these people are always drinking glasses of wine and eating fancy white people food).

DID NOT FINISH: 20%

I’m never harsh on books, but this was just boring for no reason.

Not my cup of tea. I initially thought the husband would be dead at the outset but for the first third we are engaging with him before his passing. The book is well written but the pacing and the plot/characters didn’t pull me in.

While books that move a such a slow pace aren’t usually my favourite, I actually found myself quite enjoying this one. Very well written
