Three points:

1. It's about the fear of mediocrity and sentimentality brought on by living in suburban America in the fifties.

2. They (Frank and April) are both egotistical, unfaithful psychos.

3. I found the conversations between the two, particularly April's responses, a ~bit~ unrealistic at times. At times, it was glaringly obvious that she was created from a man's perspective (funnily enough, sometimes her responses were very similar to what Frank imagined her responses to be).

“Oh, you’ll what? You’ll leave me? What’s that supposed to be—a threat or a promise?”

I know this is supposed to a deep,  reflective book about ambition,  suburbia etc, I found it boring and predictable.  Think Death of a Salesman . Some fk the writing was beautiful and the description spot on,  but ugh.  So depressing.

Excellent! Deeply moving and one of those novels that you'll revisit years to come.

Fairly slow, sad, but engaging story of a couple hating their suburban life set in 1950s America
