these plays are as relevant today as they were 50 years ago when they were written. wish I could see them performed. I have loved her poetry and enjoy how she sees the play as an extension of poetry.

“Death is a five o’clock door forever changing time. And wars end. Sometimes too late. i am here. still in mississippi. Near the grave of my past.”
for reference i only read sister son/ji out of this collection of work. even though this is a very short play it still has soo much in it to unpack. it feels a lot like the works of ntozake shange just in the way that it is written and doesn’t really follow any concept of time. the writing is beautiful and very impactful and i would love to read more of sanchez’s work.
