I feel like the story was unnecessarily dragged out and it was taken off to different directions randomly. It could have definitely progressed a bit faster. But I still liked the story because I was able to get attached to the characters. And Jameson ♥️ although, I'm now giving Grayson the benefit of the doubt.
Long review (spoilers) -
Loving the short chapters and the fast pace of this book so far. It is definitely getting more and more interesting with each chapter and I’m liking getting to know the characters but without a buttload of information thrown at my face. I’m about halfway through the book and it’s becoming more of a page turner now. I’m getting to know the characters more and definitely getting attached to the Hawthorne brothers, except Grayson, of course. But something is brewing between him and Avery, so let’s see how that goes. I suspect a possible love triangle. Alrighty now, just like I suspected a love triangle has begun and this idiot Avery is not sure of her feelings and is gonna end up hurting them both like Ms. Belly Conklin. Although the pieces came together in the end, I feel like it was unnecessarily dragged out. And I knew Harry, the person that Avery played chess with, had something to do with this since the beginning of the book. So, I wasn’t really surprised. All in all, an okayish book, but could’ve been written better.

Jennifer Lynn’s well-thought-out book about the main character, Avery Grambs, is a thrilling read that I would highly recommend. The depiction of the character and her attention to detail in regard to the characters and settings is one aspect that stood out for me while reading the book. Furthermore, if you enjoy a good plot twist then you will find plenty in this exhilarating read. Anyone who enjoys a book illustrating family drama and riddles upon riddles with a bit of romance will enjoy this book. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
