This was a unique book. Very informative. A doctor's perspective on the COVID-19 pandemic and what he went through during that time.

As a physician myself, I have read and enjoyed many such books so I thought, ok, pandemic stories, could be good. If I wrote something now, I would rail about those who keep their masks below their noses and mouths and the frustration of caring for individuals who ignore my advice and recommendations about Covid and vaccination, and when they get sick, they demand every drug possible. Although Fisher addresses these issues, he also lovingly describes caring for the indigent S Chicago neighborhood. He expresses the joy of knowing his team members over many years of working together. He also has strong feelings about inequities in health care and the unfairness of racism which is routed in poverty and lack of resources. He not only tilts at windmills, he walks the talk and promotes change. A worthwhile read for almost anyone curious about our very inefficient and often ineffective hospitals.
