Honestly I did genuinely love this book, but it is somewhat of a filler between powerless and fearless.

It follows Kai and Kitt as they battle with their feelings following their fathers death at the hands of Paedyn, with kai hunting her in his role as the enforcer and Kitt stepping into his new role as king.

There was definitely some shocking twists in regarding to feelings and some actions that are made, but the main consensus is it is a way of working through passion and anger  following the death and destruction wreaked and ordered by the old king and the lies he may have spread.

Overall I can’t wait to get to the final book and find out how Paedyn and the brothers tale truly ends.

This definitely had that Middle Book Feeling where it seems like a lot happens, but nothing really happens at the same time. Like, there’s tons of action and drama and witty banter—which I totally LOVED—but the plot really isn’t moved along until the last chapter, which I kinda saw coming. Though I have questions. And despite the lack of overall plot furthering, I am absolutely consumed with Kai and Paedyn’s relationship. I can already feel the angst and longing that Book 3 is sure to drag out, and I don’t like it. Lol

This book had so much hype building up to its release, that I was eagerly waiting to see what would happen next, I would normally say that maybe I built it up too much, but this time I just think it needed more time and more substance.
Throughout the whole book, there is absolutely no plot, it is just a cat-and-mouse chase that turns into an 'I hate you, I love you' fight and has no real high stakes that it needs.
I understand the author said it was a bridging book but for a trilogy, it could've still been that and had a plot to follow. I barely ever see a second book in a series that is shorter than the first.
Over 300 pages of nothing. The only reason it has the rating it does is because the 5 star first book got me attached to the characters.

While this book kept me entertained, it was fine. There were parts I liked and there were more parts that I didn't really care for. I found the plot to be predictable and the pacing was off.  The characters, mainly Paedyn and Kai, were fine and it was interesting to see how their relationship developed. I will say that I wasn't too surprised by the ending.
