 Audiobook Review – Reckless by Lauren Roberts (Powerless Trilogy, Book 2)
🎧 Narrated by Cecily Bednar Schmidt, Chase Brown, and Jared Zeus

I know this one gets labeled a “filler book” by a lot of readers, and while I get it…yes, it’s more of a slow burn and transitional, I honestly still really enjoyed it. Reckless digs deeper into the world, peels back layers, and gives us long awaited truths. Things are unraveling, secrets are coming out, and the tension is building and that’s what kept me hooked.

The highlight for me was the dynamic between Paedyn and Kai. The emotional tug of war, the slow build of trust, and their mutual inner conflict felt really natural. Their chemistry has been simmering since Powerless, and here, it starts to truly evolve. You can feel the shift in their relationship.

Kai continues to be my favorite his backstory as an Enforcer and his internal struggle make him such a compelling character. But Kit? He’s the wild card. I still don’t know what to make of him. He’s unpredictable, closed-off, and I get the sense he’s hiding something big. That mystery surrounding him adds a layer of unease and curiosity that I liked.

While Powerful is still my top pick in the series so far, Reckless holds its own. The narration once again elevates the experience…Cecily Bednar Schmidt, Chase Brown, and Jared Zeus are phenomenal. They each bring real depth and emotion to the characters, which made the journey even more immersive.

This isn’t a fast paced installment, but it’s a necessary one and it still managed to leave me wanting more.
