adventurous slow-paced

So, I‘m too lazy to construct a real review, so here are just a few points:
- Why is this a fantasy novel? There is no use of powers anywhere!
- The characters from the last novel had nothing to do. Andy, Lenny and Jax had brief MCU-esque cameos and Kitt had had a few depressing chapters, but nothing else
- How can a book be so fast-paced, yet nothing happens? Seriously, they spend like half the book in the desert.
- The relationship between Paedyn and Kai was nice, I guess, but they always went back and forth, which got annoying
- the ending was good, and the only part I genuinely enjoyed, but couldn’t this just have been act 1 of the book? Cut out all the unnecessary stuff from the rest of the book, easy. This could have been a great duology, but publishers are obsessed with making trilogies, for some reason

I‘m still going to check out the next novel, because the ending genuinely intrigued me

Not good.

How could it end like that- 4.5 stars

Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes

I enjoyed this book a little more than the first one honestly because there were no trials. It picks up basically right where the last one left off, showing Kai pursuing her and then attempting to take her back to his brother, the new king. A few of the chapters are Kitt’s POV to show how he is coping with what Paedyn has done. There’s a lot of back and forth between Kai and Paedyn, some fun and some serious as they navigate their feelings. Some secrets are also revealed.
