I didn't expect this to be so delightful! I had just read The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows and these being set in the same general time period was a nice coincidence. Mrs. Martin was a hoot and I eneding laughing to myself while reading. A quick, fun read that was definitely worth it.
Moderate: Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Sexual assault and Sexual violence

Fun love story across a wide class barrier. It's such a treat to get a romance between lesbians (sapphics?) in their ~70s, and I really enjoyed the explorations of self-worth, beauty, and survival. I would read this again!
Moderate: Grief and Sexism
Minor: Rape, Domestic abuse, Death, Alcohol, Confinement, Death of parent, Misogyny, Sexual assault, Sexual content, and Sexual harassment
