This book was unexpectedly depressing. It had the feel of a domestic thriller. I'm realizing that I struggle with books where people don't get what they deserve, and I struggle with infidelity and toxic relationships. I enjoyed the setting of the book. The end, though, this lady is a terrible historian.

Dual timeline, history, thriller, with a touch of fantasy. The story follows an apothecary in old London with a dark secret.

I really enjoyed this book. This story gave me Eat, Pray, Love vibes with the current day main character taking some time away after a fight with her husband. Additionally, there are mystery thriller vibes from the events in the late 1700s. Kept me engaged and interested through its entirety.

The story is okay. The historicity is appallingly bad, but ignoring that it was entertaining enough.

Over all I found the book kind of... boring? That may not be the right word but over all I came away with a very "meh" feeling.
Caroline's thoughts were frustrating to me. So much revolved around these "giant" secrets she was keeping and I just don't feel like any of it except her true discovery was huge.
