This book was unexpectedly depressing. It had the feel of a domestic thriller. I'm realizing that I struggle with books where people don't get what they deserve, and I struggle with infidelity and toxic relationships. I enjoyed the setting of the book. The end, though, this lady is a terrible historian.

I enjoyed the parallels between the 2 stories, and would absolutely love if this women’s apothecary was a real historical fact.

The authors portrayal of the grief & pain that comes from betrayal, or wanting a baby was so real it had me wondering if she’d experienced it first hand. This story had me feeling like I was right there with them listening to their tales of heartbreak, & the exciting thrill of discovery. I felt deeply for these women, almost as if I had known them myself. Now that we’ve come to an end, I don’t quite know what to do with myself.

Dual timeline, history, thriller, with a touch of fantasy. The story follows an apothecary in old London with a dark secret.

I really enjoyed this book. This story gave me Eat, Pray, Love vibes with the current day main character taking some time away after a fight with her husband. Additionally, there are mystery thriller vibes from the events in the late 1700s. Kept me engaged and interested through its entirety.

This has been on my TBR for over a year, and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it but it definitely didn't live up to the hype that I'd given it. The book has three perspectives, two in the past and one in present day. While I did enjoy watching their stories becoming more intertwined as the book went on, I felt that their stories wrapped up quite quickly and I found them to be disappointing.
