This is a book with a female lead who is so smart and we are told just how smart she is all the time who does make a lot of pretty fun decisions which I find kinda annoying. The past and present timeliness are done pretty well tho. The past plot is much better than the present tho.

Dual timeline, history, thriller, with a touch of fantasy. The story follows an apothecary in old London with a dark secret.

I really enjoyed this book. This story gave me Eat, Pray, Love vibes with the current day main character taking some time away after a fight with her husband. Additionally, there are mystery thriller vibes from the events in the late 1700s. Kept me engaged and interested through its entirety.

This has been on my TBR for over a year, and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it but it definitely didn't live up to the hype that I'd given it. The book has three perspectives, two in the past and one in present day. While I did enjoy watching their stories becoming more intertwined as the book went on, I felt that their stories wrapped up quite quickly and I found them to be disappointing.

I really enjoyed this book! A lot more than I thought I was going to, based on the rating. I love the fact that it took us through the POVs of Caroline, Eliza and Nella and how it tied each of these women together, despite not really having anything in common.
I especially love how the end tied it all together with Caroline realizing that she found Eliza’s tincture bottle, it really just brought it all full circle.
Overall a fun read and would definitely recommend!

The idea behind this book is very intriguing but fell flat for me in the execution. Having three narrators, two in the past and one in the present was jarring. I found myself wanting to skip to the contemporary parts. The modern day character was the most interesting to me and the more mysterious part of the story, however this section often had to be rushed in order to make room for the past stories. I find myself wishing this book was different.
