I usually don't read help books with God in the title but this one jumped out at me at the right time in my life. Like the saying "when the student is ready the teacher will appear". I read through it in a couple days (short book) and it really hit home - I have since reread it which is unusual for me...

3.5 Stars. I had a really hard time with the first one third or so of this book. Several things made me really question where it was going to go. But if you can get past the idea of setting aside the fundamental things many of us base our beliefs on, which the author very bluntly does (thus the deducted points), and get to the 6 lessons this fable/story is using to help us understand why we don't have peace and don't understand love, there are some really good points made. Once I got into the last half of the book I sailed through to the end and enjoyed the lessons or 'commandments' presented. Although I'm not in the same situation as the main character, I did relate to many of the ways she was living her life and her way of thinking about things. So, in summary, and trying not to completely spoil the story, I had to look at this from a very different perspective, or 'let go' of some things, in order to get to the message of the book, which is maybe what the author was trying to accomplish. I felt like it could have been done without that approach though, which resulted in losing some readers before they reached the good points of the story. And yes, it was a bit cheesy but I kind of liked that!

Yes, it was a little corny, but I couldn't put it down once I picked it up, and it has some very worthwhile life lessons. I strongly identified with the main character and the problems she had in relationships. The commandments "Joe" set out for her were things I also need to work on.

I read this book about 15 years ago and loved it. Since I have so many books to read, I usually never read a book a second time, but I enjoyed this one so much that I bought another copy and had it sitting on my bookshelf for quite a few years. The book is only 147 pages, but you get so much out of those pages. How lucky Christine is to have God show himself to her in human form and guide her to having her life have true meaning and happiness.
Loved this book...readers need to keep an open mind and absorb the messages.
