This was really good. I loved the characters and the worldbuilding. The friendship between Morrigan and Jupiter and her and Hawthorne were my favorites. The plot was also so well written. I probably will continue the series.

There were some wonderful bits to this book that really elevated it for me. The characters, morrigan’s somewhat gothic personality, the feelings of finding a place where you finally belong .. the whimsy….they were all there. What kept me from giving a five star rating, was that world felt a little too unreal. Perhaps less grounded is a better way to put it. I can’t really paint a picture of nevermoor outside of that hotel. But overall the book was wonderful. I did really enjoy reading it, and it has definitely earned a place in my heart.

The best middle grade fantasy since Potter! Jessica Townsend's writing feels like a warm blanket, and these characters sheeesh! It was all extremely well thought out.

My only gripe is when you meet HIM, the scene falls a bit flat. I hope book 2 is higher stakes!
