A good mystery with intrigue and suspicious characters, strange goings-on, a family legend, set in London and on the moors. So British.

Generally considered one of the best and most memorable Sherlock story, but I shockingly didn't like it! I found it to be fast-paced but a bit boring, Sherlock himself is more than a little unlikeable throughout this story, and the mystery had no real mystery (at least, I didn't feel like it kept me guessing, which is my personal gauge for mysteries). I generally like Sherlock Holmes, and this is the first I've read in many years, so I'm interested to see how I feel going back to some of the other ones!

It is one of the most loved of all the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Watson, and I can see why. It's fast, intriguing and suspenseful. Though you do have doubts over certain characters being the antagonist they never get confirmed outright before the finale, which is the epitome of a suspense novel. A fine addition to my collection.
