Dr. Mortimer: "It is not my intention to be fulsome, but I confess that I covet your skull."
HA!!!
Perfectly paced, grabbed me into trying to deduce for myself what was happening on the way, I look forward to reading more of the Holmes' stories.
And I really enjoyed "The Whole Story" idea of this version - with photos, illustrations, and little tidbits in the margins to further pull readers into the story and give a greater understanding. Would be good to check out the many others in this series.

Best pacing in the series by far. Really eerie atmosphere. Funny as hell (Holmes’ trick on Watson). Really great cast of characters, all very interesting and well constructed. Felt like one of the best mysteries in the series, one the reader was given the tools to actually solve. Amazing ending
"Arthur what's with this dog motif?"
"Do you have something against dogs?"
"Do you have something against dogs?"
Geh, of course this is great. Duh. No wonder fans called this the best Sherlock Holmes case. This one really put you on the edge of your seat like there is always something important that happened in each chapter so none of the chapters felt like it's just a filler or something. I really like the emotional roller coaster I experienced when they're closing in on the killer. Great book!
