I've read a lot of Riley Hart in the last 12 months (21 Riley books, And even more queer romance by other authors) I LOVE her books, and she's an instant read for me. I've been going farther back into her book history and that's how I landed here with Crossroads. The story is cute, I found the 2 men lovable but not overly so. The challenges they face with their families felt very believable and realistic, but besides that nothing was really remarkable. The steamy scenes were steamy, and I loved their honesty with each other. But something was missing. It didn't capture me like her stories usually do!

It felt a little bit like I was reading a fan fiction or more amateur MM book.  I have since realized this book was first published in 2015, and now it all makes sense. This is def an earlier Riley Hart. I would venture to guess if she wrote this story now it would hit totally different, as her writing has greatly improved since this book.

I really don't have much to say. This was just a good time and fun to listen to. I like the discussion of gender roles being outdated and illogical, the discussion of owning up to your mistakes, and learning as you go. I really disliked the use of gender slurs especially given the discussions of sexist gender roles.

I really enjoyed this story both times that I read it.

I loved Nick and Bryce's story and seeing them both navigate their new feelings for each other. I liked reading about the two men falling for each other after both having only been with women in the past and never having feelings for men before each other.

As I was reading I felt as though Nick wasn't just bisexual but possibly demisexual as he has explicitly stated he needs a firm connection with someone before having sex with them or falling in love with them. Having only loved two people besides his family: his ex wife and then Bryce. I'm not saying he actually is demisexual as it hasn't been said he is. I just get that vibe from him.

Overall this was a wonderful read of two men coming to terms with their feelings for each other and falling in love and how they deal with the challenges that arise from being together.
