Mal, you are simply… boring. You can’t understand Alina? Who cares, she is living her life. Support her. (I understand his drama, but still…)
I still can’t get over what Darklina could have been— Alina deserved a corruption arc, but I guess in the 2010s fans would have been shocked. So we simply got a toxic relationship with creepy scenes where the Darkling appears from the darkness and violates Alina’s consent. #benbarneswouldnever
The plot was… okay? “Siege and Storm” suffers slightly from 2nd book syndrome, but whatever, I only care about the world and the characters.
very subjective 5 stars, because I am attached to the grishaverse, its world and in particular its characters. And Leigh Bardugo’s majestic writing.

Relectura, 2020: Confirmo que es mucho más lento que su primera parte. Tiene muy buen comienzo y muy buen final, pero en el medio solo hay paja, paja y más paja. Lo mejor: aparece por primera vez Sturmhond, uno de los personajes más carismáticos de esta saga. Aún así, se queda con la misma puntuación que hace dos años.
Primera lectura, 2018: Este segundo libro me ha parecido más lento que el primero de la saga.
Hay bastante acción al principio y al final, pero las 400 páginas del medio no avanzan demasiado en la trama y se centran en personajes que, para mí, no son los que más aportan a la saga. Aún así, Leigh Bardugo continuó deleitándome con su manera de escribir.
En cuanto a los tópicos, aunque hay algunos, sin duda hay muchos menos que en la primera parte, aunque siguen presentes. Lo bueno es que la autora sabe llevarlos y hasta hace que te olvides de ellos.
Como "Sombra y Hueso", "Asedio y Tormenta" os hará pasar una tarde entretenida si os gusta la fantasía bien escrita y estáis dispuestos a perdonar ciertos clichés.

This has been a really good series, I cannot wait to get the third book! Easy to read, tame enough for the teens!

ok so i liked this book. i did. it was really good in the beginning, it got super super plot based in the middle which i don’t love but it’s fine, and the end was eh.
i wasn’t a super huge fan of the end but that’s a personal preference thing. (it was still a very well written book)
i’m excited to see if ruin and rising will be better or worse then this one :)
i’d still recommend this trilogy to anyone, it’s really good!

Waar ik bij het eerste boek nog een beetje teleurgesteld was, werd dit in het tweede boek al grotendeels goedgemaakt. Hoewel de romance nog altijd een belangrijk deel van het verhaal is, is het nu vooral gebruikt om conflict te creëren. Conflict tussen het hart en het hoofd, tussen het gevoel en de strategie, tussen liefde en politiek. Hoewel het begin een beetje verwarrend is en onoverzichtelijk, komt het verhaal echt een niveau hoger zodra de politiek in volle glorie tot het verhaal wordt toegelaten. Het meisje van het eerste boek wordt een vrouw en ineens wordt het verhaal donkerder en duisterder. Het einde van deel 2 is heel erg veelbelovend en ik voel het enthousiasme in mij groeien. Als deel 3 doet wat ik hoop dat het gaat doen, zal ik mijn mening over deel 1 bij moeten stellen. Let's see ;-)
