This is a much slower book than the previous one. These stories track the back stories of Maud and those close to her.You do have to suspend belief for some of them, since how is it the police , or guess the ME,

track that almonds was the cause of death or that the murder weapon was a cane? Does Maud rid of the cane after the murder? I assume she doesn’t take it with her to the gathering with the other travelers, but then wouldn’t that be out of character for her??

  I guess since this is more about Maud and her murdering schemes, there isn’t a need to go into details for the other side. It just feels un-thrurough, for a lack of a better word. Maybe I watch too much SVU 😂

I enjoyed this book, especially as we got to see more into Maud’s past. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the ending, though. I hope there will be another book to tie up some loose ends!

Uau quando eu pensei que esta senhora já não me pode surpreender BAM 

Devo admitir que no início do livro comecei a ficar aborrecida com a ideia de more uma clara sociopata no mínimo estar a analisar os seus erros passados ou até sentir remorsos, mas a sua decisão no final foi prefeita com aquilo que sabemos dela. ADOREI o reverter da moeda e como no fundo a Maude tem sem sombrw de dúvidas uma origem sombria mas também é a consequência do seu ambiente. No final espero que ela viva o suficiente para pelo menos mais uma aventura.

The first book had some dark charm to it. I was hoping in the sequel we would see an old lady cat and mouse with the police, or perhaps watch her face off against another killer old lady and only they recognise the true nature of the other ...

Instead, I suspect there was a tax write off for a south Africa trip in play here? It felt quite a lot like a first draft and Maude's transformation from vigilanti killer to literal white saviour was glib. I thought the treatment of the family at the end incredibly shallow and convenient.

Also, I thought the flash backs would show her learning how to be a successful murderer, or after trying other means deciding it was the only viable option. No, Maud faced a problem one day as a grown adult and went immediately to a Wiley Coyote murder plot for a rival co-worker, instead of, for example, looking for a new job or framing the coworker for a fireable  offence.
