Pooh, a Bear of Very Little Brain with his bunch of merry friends and adventures around the 100-Acre Wood are the perfect cure to my stressful days.

The stories themselves like most children’s literature are very simple. If you pick up your Big Girl Glasses and remember all your Worldly Problems, you’ll easily dismiss them as rather trifling. However, the characters are so wholesome, they wrap their noses on those Very Silly Problems and made them seem Very Important Indeed, and it’s been a long time since I’ve genuinely laughed through a book🤣 (and yes, the capitalization of words are amongst those endearing little things that they did).

Who knew that building a trap for Heffalumps (nobody ever found out what they are😂) and going on an ‘Exposition’ to find the North Pole (literally) could be such fun!

I can see why they’re such dearly loved stories over the years with their recurring themes of friendship and courage even amongst the seemingly weak and foolish.

This is a really beautiful boxed set!! I didn't even know there were books of verses/poems - they're definitely cute but don't have the same sort of nostalgia as the two short story collections. If you watched all the pooh tv shows and movies like I did, the stories will feel like home to you too! I'm listing this as the boxed set instead of individually, but I think I'd be more likely to reread the first two more often.

It's funny how when I was little, I loved piglet (did I have anxiety even then? Was I identifying with him without realizing it?! Lol). As an adult, I really understand and appreciate eeyore. Especially when tigger shows up in the forest and eeyore's like oh...and when's he leaving again?

The last time I remember reading these books
(or having it read to me)
is about fifty years ago
Though I have listened to the Alan Bennett recordings
more recently
(and the voices of the characters are those of Alan Bennett)
I decided to re-read it
after a friend read "When We were Very Young"
and was struck by some of the poems
(notably "Teddy Bear")
So I bought this four book set
and read it within 24 hours of receiving it.
It is both childish and profound at the same time.
