Nothing special but I enjoyed it. Usually enjoy the historic story more in these dual time line stories but in this one the modern day was more fleshed out though I did like Jago's character. Romance, mystery, crime... A bit of everything. I am quite getting to like Christina Courtney and will no doubt read more of her work. So far have tried 3 of her series but prefer the viking series.

A lovely and satisfying read for a cloudy day or long train journey with a cuppa! Very apt as a Starbucks freebie. Kayla's life is transformed through 'meeting' a portrait of a man from a few generations past...and their worlds collide and entangle in a web of love, deceit and mystery, with dangers lurking in both the past and the present.
