4 Stars!!!

I really enjoyed this contemporary romance! The premise of the book is two very different people come together, fake date, and work at a castle in Italy. Throughout the book, the couple develops real feelings and it's a happily ever after. I liked the backgrounds of both characters, the heroine is a chef and the hero is an ex-firefighter/ex-con.

The only thing I didn't like about this story was the unnecessary arguing from both characters in the first 25% of the book. I almost DNFed it because it was so immature and difficult to read. But, I'm glad I pushed through because the rest of the book was a delight.

I received this book as an ARC and reviewed it voluntarily.

What a fun romance! What I loved about this book is the lightheartedness, the dreamy, romantic quality of being in a romantic location, and of course, I love the fake dating trope. What I didn't like is the miscommunication trope - I need my MCs to communicate properly, like adults! Ugh! Everyone was a bit childish and juvenile and unprofessional. Also, I wasn't surprised by the ending,
SpoilerI totally expected the owners to end up gifting them the place, but it was much too soon, based on their rapport and relationship at the time of the gifting, not plausible at all. I just didn't feel it.

I still enjoyed it, and I love that I was able to finish it in 24 hours and right now, I just really feel like I need to binge on some more light romances.

Was this book perfect? No. Did it give me the feel I want from a 5 star book? Absolutely. The romance was so good I loved both of our characters and how their relationship developed.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Italian Job was so much fun to read. First, they are going to Italy which is a place I can't wait to see. Then, they are staying and working in a castle. Uhm, yes, can I please work with them? It also doesn't hurt that I really liked Anna and Jake throughout the book either. It was definitely a neighbors to lover's romance, which I devoured like crazy. Plus, her ex being a complete douche canoe didn't hurt either.

Besides the traveling, we did get some drama. Of course, it was easy to overlook because the romance made it all up to me. Seriously, I really enjoyed watching these two dance around one another until they truly admitted their feelings. The ending was also really freaking cute and made me smile.

In the end, I adored this and can't wait for next romcom Kathryn writes.

“I bloody love every part of you.”
“Even the weird parts?”
“Especially the weird parts.”

This was the second book that I’ve picked up by this author and just like the other one I really enjoyed reading it.

The plot of the book, fake dating to work together in Italy (in a castle!!!) was incredible. I loved reading the story with the setting, because I always love books where they’re on vacation, or working abroad.

The couple, Anna and Jake were so good together. They were good characters apart, both having a storyline out of the couple which made them feel like real people and not just characters made to fit into the story. I always love the storyline where the two main characters were neighbours when they were younger and come back together as adults and fall in love and this part didn’t disappoint.

As well as the main characters, I also liked the side characters. As well as the family members for both characters, I also loved the people who lived around them in Italy who they got close with.

This author is one of the only third person writers that I can read books from. Usually I hate third person writing and I can’t get into the stories but this author changes that and I am able to even with this style.

I definitely recommend this as a cute summer read, one which isn’t difficult to get through (I read it all in one day).

Cute rom com with your classic fake dating. Loved the second chances storyline. I could have liked more Italian descriptions as I’ve been to Lake Como. Was a quick run read.
