I thoroughly enjoyed this entry into the monster romance genre. My only complaint, and I can’t believe I’m going to say this….is it wasn’t long enough. I loved it but the denouement was so fast that I didn’t have time to savor it!

Spoiler
The portion in the tower was interesting except for the part about there being no light and fresh air, but once they left, it felt more tell don't show and the pacing disappeared. There were time/location jumps and info dumps making it hard to keep track of what was actually happening and the reasons why. Did we really get a throwaway line about how it was the phases of the moon that caused the whole thing and not revenge for the death that happened centuries before?

While I enjoyed this book , and it’s a good one for monster romance lovers and has an interesting plot… it was a very “light grey” book and to me wouldn’t consider it a dark romance. While it does have some darker themes mentioned it just didn’t scratch my “dark monster romance” itch I picked it up for.
