It’s insane how much this book captivated me! I finished it in like two days and I had to know what was going to happen next. The atrocities of war are not skimped on, and there are definitely twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. Also, I appreciated that the MMC is actually monstrous looking - although this is the second Ruby Dixon book in a row where he’s got a knot on the cock but yano what, I’m starting to see the appeal and I’m all for making new creative choices in the genre!
Graphic: Child death, Vomit, War
Moderate: Bullying, Infertility, Rape, Sexual violence, Slavery, Blood, Grief, Murder, Pregnancy
starting to think that Ruby Dixon has a breeding kink. also after the fourth hint that the fmc was going to get pregnant I was like "yeah I get it" and the mmc being good at sex immediately after losing his virginity? sigh.

so i have to say i never even suspected that the younger sister was still alive but it did feel like the end was rushed. i feel like in the last 5 chapters everything just gets tidied up - which i guess is Rubys style? I loved it, it reminded me of her Aspect and Anchor world.

It's not a Dixon book without a good knot and I can't say I'm mad at it?
I loved that this was a standalone. It had enough worldbuilding for me to believe in it as the story went on. I enjoyed following Nemeth and Candra's story and see their love grow overtime. This just proves to me that forced proximity is my thing in any form of romance.
It did wrap up a little too quickly for me, but I guess it made sense for the world since they were lacking in resources.
Anyways, I enjoyed this 🫶🏽 I'm a monster lover girl, I guess.
