Thank you to NetGalley and W for Wattpad for the ARC. I love Ruby Dixon. Her writing always has a lot of spice but it also hits all the right notes for its romance and Bound to the Shadow Prince didn’t disappoint.
Candra is the middle daughter, born with the blood curse that means she needs daily injections she’s the cursed member of her family and nothing is expected of her but when her younger sister suddenly dies Candra must take her place. As sacrifice to to the Moon Goddess one of the Vestalin bloodline and one of the Darkfell bloodline must spend seven years locked in a tower, but Nemeth turns out not to be the enemy Candra had anticipated.
If you have read Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbians you may be expecting something short and fast paced but this book takes the time to really get to know the characters. For a large part of the book they are alone in a tower with no other characters and I loved watching them together. Their relationship seemed to struggle once they got outside the confines of the tower and were forced to deal with others.

I, too, fell for the charms of Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians, and I've dabbled in some of her other worlds.
This was a surprise in many ways, a longer book, a meatier story, and a plot hole or two.
Candra is locked in a tower for seven years with Nemeth, her family's enemy. The journey from enemies to lovers is fraught with distrust and discovery as these two surprisingly don't go insane (there are no windows AT ALL), and don't get sick from food that gets delivered once a year. Scurvy, anyone?
Also, why have an all-knowing knife if you're not going to use it?
I love Ruby Dixon's series and the smut is on point as always, but this just fell flat for me.

This wasn’t terrible but it definitely could have been shorter. I found myself zoning out often especially when we kept getting random history lessons and lore about the world. Which in itself was lacking because for as much as they discussed the history, it felt we still were given underdeveloped world building. But to be fair this is a Ruby Dixon book so it’s not I thought this was going to be the epic fantasy romance of the year
The FMC was just too unbelievable. She’s shallow to the point where it causes conflict that can be avoided or she can get the answers to

I feel like this book was lacking. I wanted more from the plot with such a thick book. I feel like there were several places where it either needed editing down or stronger world building to warrant 500 pages. However if you want 500 pages of smut for smut sake, it’s not the worst.
So I never thought I’d say this but goodness there was a lot of spice in this book, I would even say a bit too much. The story and writing feels more like the aspect and anchor series which I really loved. The begging was slow but I did enjoy it. This book had me nervous unlike any of the other books from our girl Ruby’s. I was worried that this might be the first time that Ruby gave us an unhappy ending but of course our girl pulled through in the end.

I’ve never read any of Ruby Dixon’s books but I’ve heard great things about her other series so I decided to give this a try. I knew what I was getting into once I read the background, some light magic/fantasy romance with enemies to lover and close proximity tropes. There was a good level of spice but some of the scenes felt repetitive and didn’t really add to story progression or character development. thought the twists and plot throughout were pretty good and kept me reading but the end was what I felt could have been done better. The characters were interesting and but Act 3 felt rushed and the characters seemed to fall flat. I felt this twist which put a wrench in the relationship was great but the way in which the characters reacted to it was never really addressed. It seemed somewhat glazed over which was a missed opportunity to add depth to the relationship. The ending also lacked those confrontational scenes where the reader could feel true triumph over the challenge at hand. It was told to you that things were wrapped up and resolved rather than letting the reader experience it. Overall I feel I wanted to rate it better but the decisions the author made at the end were all pretty disappointing and brought the rating down to a 3 or 2.5.
I was given a free copy from the publisher.
I enjoyed this enemies to lovers story. It has elements of Rapunzel (princess locked in a tower), Greek mythology (epic search for a home), Beauty and the Beast. There is court intrigue, political intrigue, found family, fated mates. The love story is a little silly and cringey sometimes, especially the word play. The main female character is stubborn and spoiled, but she is a force that does not back down. The main male character is very sweet. This is a comfortable, easy book to read, lots of spice.

I don't even know what to write about this book. It felt like a twist on a Disney story with them being in a tower. Then she falls for nementh and the whole world goes to crap.
But she of course has to deal with crazy families.
I honestly felt like this book was 50% to long. It dragged and then is everything happens at the end and was rushed.
Candra was the worst main character. So annoying and whiny. The mmc is a cinnamon roll.
I don't know if it's worth 500+ pages but the main story was good
