This scratched my space / sci-fi itch. I’d tried to read Dune a few times, but not gotten far. A friend recommended this and I got through it in about two weeks. Looking for the rest of the series. I love foreign world building, so constructing the world and social behaviors was very enjoyable- it had a rogue, world building, cool female character, and a good plot. It was an enjoyable read.

Jason DinAlt thinks he's pretty tough—quick on the draw—but on Pyrrus, he discovers he needs a 10-year-old bodyguard just to keep himself alive. This book is precisely the sci-fi pulp adventure sucking a coke through a Twizzler straw fun that I wanted. The book kept up a solid wind-through-your-hair pace, and the plot was interesting, sadly, more than the characters. The ending was, again sadly, a miss for me. I wished for something more creative, but it knotted up the threads, so it wasn't a cop-out. Great pew-pew fun.
A rollicking romp, feeling its age now I’m afraid. Does tend to show how far good SF has come over the last 50 years or so but still a fun, interesting and enjoyable quick read.

Not sure how I have never read anything by this author before, considering my love of old school traditional sci fi, but I'm happy I've ran across it! Gave me big Piers Anthony "Man & Manta" vibes stylistically, which isn't a bad thing.
While I'm not a huge fan of the main character, he's written well, and the premise is interesting. I liked the "man vs wild" theme, and the fact that the author worked in the psychic aspect across the entirety of the story line. Good read! Will definitely pick up some more by this author.

I loved this Librivox audiobook. Found it on the Audiobooks.com app for free.
Anyone who doesn't know about this app should check it out as there's a lot of free stuff and a subscription I paid for and it's worth it.
I'm just sorry I can't seem to find the next 2 books in this series.
What drew me was the old-looking cover so I guessed it had to be old and gold

I had a really good time reading this. It is snappy storytelling at its finest.
The world building is quick, the scale of threat is clear.
At no point bogged down with how things work, you just know that they do and what's at stake.
Looking forward to reading more of his work.
