J. Courtney Sullivan

3.32 AVERAGE

I gave this book 2 stars on the writing alone. Sullivan is a very good writer and I found the plot interesting. The character development was one dimensional and few were likeable. I look forward to the next book where this could be corrected to make for a superb novel.

Lots of characters, soap opera-ish story of 5 generations of a family.

these characters were so complex, and I loved seeing how their interpretations of events and motives differed from each other! definitely not one of my favorite books but it was a good summer read and I always love a family saga

I can't quite give this 4 stars, but it was an interesting character study. 3.75?

Thus far, this book seems to be just a bunch of chapters focusing on one character at a time and her long-winded complaints about her life and her annoying family relations. It is wordy and lacks wind in the sails. If the pace doesn't pick up soon, I will be putting it aside.

Update: Read half, skimmed the rest. Terrible.

We got to see four Kelleher women for a snapshot of their lives - while what we saw was interesting, I’m curious to know what happened next. Did any of them have significant personal growth after the events of this book? The story was on the slower side, but switching between the four women helped it move along.
