Some high tier steamy stuff but the end was kind of weak I guess.

KU.

A friend of mine recommended this as a funny, quick, & dirty read. It is exactly what it claimed to be and I had a blast reading it. I'll admit to feeling little unnerved by the very start of Bill & Christina's sexual relationship ~ but once past that, I really enjoyed it. Alternating POV's gives us insight into both of these quirky, yet lovable characters.

This is listed as the first book in a series and I'm looking forward to more when they're released.

Possible spoilers?

Whew! At first I was like- total porno. Because man, they just get right to it.

And being a small business Owner- every alarm was going off about how this was a lawsuit waiting to happen, so I found myself skipping over pages to see why she needed the day off so bad that she would allow such violation to her self.

If the reason wasn't strong enough, I would have DNF'ed it so fast but I was surprisingly drawn into the story so much that I forced myself to go back and start over (once I had more understanding).

And it was interesting that the author did not provide much physical description of Bill- mostly of Christina. And I think it really messed with my head until I could see what Christina saw as her awareness of Bill opened up. She began to "see" him and we could as well.

And wow, does this book deliver- it really is Bass-Ackwards! Color me shocked. And its super hot- "fans self". And totally worth reading!

The start was hard to get through, it felt so cold and inpersonal....which to be fair was representational of the dynamic between the FMC and MMC. Eventually the characters give in to their attraction and the book heats up.

This was a reread for me.

I love this book as much as the first time I read it. I recently saw on social media it's being made into an audio book which I'm really intrigued by.

I love the premise and I don't feel like I've found anything similar since I initially read it years ago.

I'm surprised by the amount of reviews by people that say they enjoy dark romance/boss &employee troupe yet were really scathing of this book.

Personally I just loved the slow burn element and the smutty scenes. The chapter at his house was both hot and sweet.

The only point I didn't like was when he asked her the question at the end(I won't spoil it). That felt a bit rushed, but still loved that they got their hea.

I wish eris Adderley would write something similar!

Oh my fucking god this is the best unromantic romance I’ve read in a long time. No strike that last bit, that I’ve read ever, period, full stop, the end. I want me an ass-hole like Bill Marshall, I want to be some foolish man’s Christina Lee.

I spent a good 70% of this book hot and bothered, 20% wanting to bash heads and the last 10% ugly crying and snivel-sobbing in the happiest of ways. I bloody loved grumpy AF Bill and adored on-a-knives-edge-to-insanity Christina. This couple couldn’t have been more wrong for each other and yet so very perfect for each other too.

Only a very small amount of this book doesn’t involve either scenes between Bill and Christina or ones on their own thinking about, lusting over or puzzled by the other. We do get a few scenes of Christina with her Pops, plus a couple of Bill at home. Mostly we are at Haul Ash Truck and Trailer Rental (I loved that name by the way and all the geeky references too), at the back end of nowhere, Texas.

Those were her favorites, she found. The stories where the heroine hated her love interest at the beginning. It was oh-so-satisfying to read, but that shit didn't happen in real life. Personalities in Assholedom tended to remain in Assholedom. It was Newton's little know First Law of Fuckboys; she was pretty sure of that.

Normally in a romance I want lots of background on and detail about my characters, so that I can get to know and care about them. (See that Eris Adderly, Bill and Christina Lee belong to me now!). However the truth of the matter is that this intense and focused plot, this pared down to the bone story didn’t need anything extra. Every single page dripped with emotion and the book gave me ALL the feels – especially those ones that require one handed reading
