This is an absolutely pointless adaptation when the Takeshi Obata manga exists. The art is ugly and utterly charmless, which is embarrassing considering the dynamism of the source material. There is a scene in this graphic novel that's also present in the original book, where a couple of character discuss the ridiculous depictions of themselves in trashy film adaptation and the graphic novel's version of those movie depictions are made to be even more over the top than how they are describe in the original text because the genuine attempt at art in this comic is already as bad as the imaginary bad movie in the book.

Don't read this American adaptation.  Seek out the Manga or original Light Novel.
