NOPE. That did NOT just happen. I refuse to believe it. excuse me while I take a little break because WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK JUST HAPPENED. They must be called cliffhangers because I want to jump off a cliff at the way that ended.

When I first started this series, I almost dnf it. I am soooooo glad I kept going. Although there is some cheesy points it does continually make me laugh and also makes my heart ache over and over again. The writing in many places is extraordinarily beautiful, I can't wait until the next one and if what happened at the end really happened then I will die.

Rinse and repeat x4, see the review of the first book in this series here .
Yes, give me more of the stereotypical mean boy character that I'm supposed to "not like" but I definitely LIKE LIKE. The perfect cliffhanger at the end of this book, gives us the hint of an arc for Nox, but not quite. Love the angsty drama.

4.5/5. I am SO MAD at the cliffhanger at the end of this one. It gutted me.
That said, I liked this book the best out of all 4 that I have read so far. We continue to see things through multiple perspectives, even Oli's bond entity and I loved that so much. The plot is continuing to thicken and a lot of questions are starting to get answered. We definitely got more plot in this one than in previous ones and it made me enjoy it more than the previous ones. BUT the balance felt a little off. I wanted to know what was going on in Nox's head when he finally chose to complete the bond. It was oddly anticlimactic. I feel like it would have been more powerful told from Nox's perspective instead of Oli's. Oli is finally growing into herself more and I love that. She's still a brat, but in a way that doesn't get on my nerves. She's trying to be better and seems to be growing emotionally and I love that too. I loved that Oli wanted to get through to Nox on her own terms and in her own way because she understood his trauma. I was sad Sage wasn't in this one as much. The friendship between the her and Oli is so special and I wanted Sage to be there more than she was. I also loved seeing how the bonds' powers are evolving. Gabe turns into a freaking Dragon! My dragon obsessed heart adored that turn of events. Two more books to go and my love of the books continues to grow alongside Oli's growth, as long as there's not another darned cliffhanger like the one we had in this one. >.>

4.5 stars but I always round up.
Not me taking months to read the last book and then devouring this one in one night…
So I’m going to talk about Nox first.
Do I feel like the way he handled his trauma was pretty accurate to reality for a lot of people? Yes.
Did the author do a fabulous job of shifting my view of him in this book? Yes.
Do I think the author dug a bit of a hole for Nox and had to scramble to make him redeemable? Yes.
Now I see why his character bothered me so much though. I hate people who misdirect their trauma to innocent people. I can feel bad for the boy who went through whatever he went through which I’m sure we will find out, but I do not feel bad for grown people who do not get some kind of help for their trauma. I do not feel bad for grown people who instead take their trauma out on other innocent people to feel better. This is a very real world reaction that many have to trauma and I can see that. I’m just not the biggest fan of it in my love interests in a novel because I don’t like it romanticized. If someone has trauma IT IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR THEM TO TREAT YOU BAD! It is not justifiable.
Now please let me note, I understand people with trauma will have good and bad days. But this character refuses to get help and just takes it out on her all the time.
Also, all the other bonds coddling him was a bit enabling. Plenty of people have horrible trauma and do not come out and have to take down others to feel good.
I see now where we’re headed (I hope) with the character and I love it! I just think it went a bit too far when directed towards a “fated mate” who had some pretty serious trauma of her own and didn’t act that way.
Anyways… that ending though… I now feel the love for Nox Draven myself. I hope some twist is coming and I get more of this new Nox who is on a healing journey. I just wish he started it slowly as soon as he found out why she “ran.”
So I don’t want to rank them this time because this is the first time I feel some equal love for them all to an extent. Gabe is still my fluffy boy who bring me peace.
Anyways. Probably talk to y’all tomorrow as I devour the next book! Since this seems to be my new hyper-fixation for the moment.
