This was better than I thought it would be. I mean, yes, the writing is nothing special, and there are almost as many brand name drops as in a Bret Easton Ellis novel, but it IS compulsively readable, much like the IG gossip account itself. I flew through it in just a few days because I wanted to know what happened next. Also appreciated that she names her co-/ghostwriter because more people who use them should admit it. We know you didn't turn around this book that fast on your own, "babe!" So if you follow the account already, you'll probably enjoy this.

Having known very little about Deuxmoi before picking this up (I remember the Armie Hammer incident, and then some unsubstantiated rumors about Bieber), I absolutely loved this book. It was informative and fun, and made me feel like I was really there right alongside Cricket/Deux the whole time. The tone is dry, cutting, and exactly what I would have expected from the head of the famed gossip account, which constantly left me wondering exactly how much of it was real. Reading this book felt like watching an extra salacious episode of Gossip Girl in its peak, with a dash of 2020s realness that made it even more exciting. While at times, Cricket's personality could feel near-unbearable, I was still rooting for her 100% in the end — I just wanted to see her defy everyone's expectations and take the celebrity gossip scene by storm. This novel endeared me to Deuxmoi, even if I think I still might hate her? A fantastic read. Four stars and not five because I felt it dragged around 30-40%, but it picked back up.
