I thoroughly enjoyed this one; quite a few typos later in the book, but overall a really fun read. I read on Kindle and was able to immediately buy and start the second in the series and I'm looking forward to Epik's continued adventures!

I enjoyed my visit to this Hobbit/Game of Thrones parody hybrid. The plot moved briskly and the jokes all landed.

Good story but some of the plot felt rushed. I think it could’ve benefited from 50 or so more pages

This book was okay, but the humor did not hit as hard as it should have for me and because this book relies so heavily on humor the rest of it fell flat. The plot seems interesting, but not anything groundbreaking. It’s a fun idea, I’m glad I gave it a chance, but it wasn’t worth finishing. If you love the humor and don’t mind a plot based entirely in satire, you’ll probably like this!

Hero in a Halfling is enchanting and humorous. It has fantasy and whimsy galore. For those who enjoy journeys, and worlds, similar to The Lord of the Rings, you will love this!

I quite enjoyed this one. It really drew me in with the massive amount of world building and details Davis created. It was fantasy at its best.

It started off pretty slow, to allow for world development. It picked up to a mildly faster pace, but continued with the vivid details throughout. It had several points of view, and some memory flashbacks, but never really lost its drive, or became confusing.

I really enjoyed the story line. It had a few predictable moments, and I could definitely tell where most Davis' inspiration came from, but it also had a fair amount of entertaining, and shocking, twists. It even had many "pop culture" references that were thrown in to mix things up a bit, but they never took away from the story.

Though I never became completely invested in any of the characters, I did enjoy them. Epik felt like a mix between the hobbits from Lord of the Rings, and from one of my favorite movies, Willow. I became attached enough that I will be reading the next books to see where his journey leads. Gerdy was another character that, though I didn't become 100% attached, I would love to see if she has a part in the next book. She was a strong, intriguing character that added a little depth to the story.

I really loved the fantasy aspects. There were trolls, goblins, elves, and orcs, oh my! Everything in the story just felt so incredibly detailed and lively. Though the pace was slow, the development in the story, and the ending, left me thrilled to continue the journey. I'm hopeful that the next book will have a faster pace, and more action, since this one contained so much world building. I'd rate it 3.5-4 stars.

Thank you to the author for sending me this free copy in exchange for my honest review!

I'm sorry to say I found this book hard to follow amd rather boring. I kept slogging through it hoping I could find the humorous part mentioned in the subtitle but it eluded me. Thankfully it was a free download or else I'd feel like I wasted money instead of just my time.

This was a fun read and a decent nod to Terry Pratchett. Epik is likeable and doesn't let things stop him from trying to become a wizard. Go big or go home certainly applies here.

Full disclosure. I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

What a fun read. Just as the spelling of our hero's name is just a bit off, so too was this story. I mean that as a good thing. While I didn't find myself crying with laughter, the humor was just how I like it, present without trying too hard to be hilarious. The puns and general word play were enjoyable too.

As to the story itself, I think you'll be surprised at how well it came together. See, this story presents itself as something of a Monty Python sketch, but it jumps out and says, "Ha! I'm actually a well thought out and plotted story that has room to grow into a long running series you'll want to keep reading."

I recommend you give this story a read and decide for yourself.

Enjoyed the first book in this series that was cleverly written with references to other classic books. Looking forward to the next book.
