Okay so, I liked this book, or I liked the stories in this book, I also like the whole, multiple characters that are connected thing. But when I was reading it... the issue is it took me like 5 months to finish it. Why? I don’t know, but every time I read it I got sent into a reading slump or just started reading something else that captivated me more. I’m just glad I finished it.

Absolutely LOVED this book! It took me a little while to get used to the writing style, but after a chapter or two I was hooked! I fell in love with some of the characters and I loved how their stories were all intertwined. Despite being in the same social circles, the characters were each so unique, and I found myself identifying with each of them in different ways. I laughed, I cried, I learned, I felt, I listened. More books like this, please!
I prefer to read books knowing very little about them. I knew this won the Booker Prize but not much else when I started. I was a little startled at first by the style because I was expecting a novel rather than a collection of stories or vignettes. Once I realized the style, I enjoyed this book immensely. What I appreciated most was how it wonderfully covers so many POVs and perspectives on situations. It gives one extreme of a situation and then another person's story starts with a completely different view. My favorite was grandma and her farm and her total acceptance of her non-binary granddaughter and her partner, while at the same time declining to be bothered to figure out which pronouns to use.
