Good characters (not always likable but interesting), good pacing, lots of different viewpoints of women and the struggles they face.

I particularly enjoyed how everyone’s story line came together and crossed in the end. I thought it added a lot to the narrative and I appreciated that the author took the time to wrap up the different threads in a way that felt right for this novel.
emotional reflective

4 1/2 stars. Excellent! The entwined lives of British women of color--family, friends, straight, LGBTQ, --told in a more free form style than most prose (the author is a playwright). I'll look into more books by this author.

It didn’t stick the landing for me but I still really loved and enjoyed this
Definitely going to reread it in future years

Absolutely gorgeous writing that jumps off the page, it’s so full of energy and feeling. The book describes so many women, with their own experiences of queerness, Blackness, and being British. The characters are so real and I loved how she portrayed women as complex over the lifetime, how someone’s opinions can change and people never stop learning.

3.75. i didn’t love this as much as i thought i would which is sad cause i thought it’d be a favorite
