Gillian Flynn's best thriller next to Gone Girl. Set in a wonderfully creepy, suffocating small Southern town with even more wonderfully creepy children on that cusp between girlhood and womanhood. Gillian Flynn has a real gift for writing incredibly codependent relationships that's just delicious.

Gillian Flynn is such a good writer. As soon as I started the first few pages I remembered how much I enjoyed Gone Girls. Sometimes I read booktok books and can’t bring myself to finish them because while they aren’t horrible, they just aren’t GOOD! Gillian’s writing is so silky and dark, I just adore it.
This was a great story, I loved the main characters and the description of small town Missouri. I felt so bad for Camille, Christ. I can’t imagine having a mother like that.

I struggled a bit with this book because I found it predictable and still surprisingly disturbing. I think the characters are intriguing with so many issues unique to them. The characters make this story special. The mystery itself was rather full of tropes and, like I said, I predicted most of the surprises. Review on my channel to come.

This is the most disturbing book I have ever read. Gillian Flynn is a genius with suspense; I couldn't put it down even though it made me feel sick, kinda like an addictive poison. Every trigger warning under the sun.
Graphic: Body shaming, Bullying, Chronic illness, Domestic abuse, Grief, Mental illness, Blood, Body horror, Panic attacks/disorders, Sexual content, Terminal illness, Murder, Child death, Gore, Physical abuse, Sexual harassment, Suicidal thoughts, Alcoholism, Animal cruelty, Child abuse, Death, Emotional abuse, Gaslighting, Self harm, Sexism, Violence, and Vomit
Moderate: Rape and Drug use
Minor: Eating disorder and Cancer

nice! however I had to stop right in the middle of the book due to some life events and I feel like I could’ve enjoyed MUCH more of the book if I had read in just one go.

The first half was kind of slow but then starts to pick up. The end is absolutely mind blowing. I had chills reading it. Wow.

I thought it was good but I did lose interest through-out.
