I found that the distance between the characters in the first two books of this series and this one felt quite disappointing to me. It was hard to get into the book at first but I did truly love this book.

When I first realized it was going to follow two couples instead of one I thought that would be too much to keep up with but then I found that I quite enjoyed it.
I do wish we had found out more about what happened with the Duke in the end.

I loved the book though, always love Minerva’s books!

If you have finished all the Bridgerton books and want more…then you should definitely give this one a try! The book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone. Funny, steamy and you get two lovely romances for the price of one. The only thing that I disliked were the internal monologues the characters had. I got this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Minerva Spencer is a truly talented author who excels at weaving unique characters and refreshing plots together, but this book was a miss for me.

Celia Trent was a difficult character to like. She was a petty and mean-spirited person who made quite a few people miserable. After that introduction, I could not warm up to her, even knowing that she had been manipulated at times. Added to this, her lukewarm romance with Richard lacked the required angst and chemistry.

There were parts which kept me going, namely Richard's twin brother, Lucien and his wife Phyllida. Their story was much more captivating. It had more angst and chemistry, and I was more invested in how they would get their happily ever after. I wish this could have been a book by itself.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Teenage mean-girl Celia has grown into a destitute lady's companion. Accompanying her employer to a house party, she's forced to confront those she hurt in the past—as well as the cruel duke who orchestrated her most infamous behavior.

Naturalist Richard cares more about beetles than gossip. As a youth, he found Celia compelling. Even after a decade apart, none of that attraction has waned. He doesn't believe in love, but she makes him feel things he can't explain. Can an outcast and a misfit find a future together?

This is by far my favorite book of the REBELS OF THE TON series. Celia made mistakes at seventeen, but she's more than paid the price. Though a scientist, Richard has social skills when he chooses to use them, and is secretly a bit of a lady's man. These two have great chemistry and are a perfect fit, even if it takes them ten years to figure it out.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

What a sassy and fun regency romance! 3.5 rounded up

A bit of enemies-to-lovers, with a tad bit of second chance in there as well. I especially enjoyed the representation that Richard’s character brought to the story, and the redemptive journey for Celia. Although this is the third in the series, I didn’t feel lost at all not having read the first two. The supporting characters are very charismatic and had me invested in their outcome as much as the MCs. The overall theme of people not being what they seem (while still each being flawed) was really well done. I’d highly recommend this one as a standalone!

Thank you, @kensingtonbooks @letstalkbookspromo for including me on this book tour & for this book!

This has one of my favourite tropes, the MMC is the FMC’s partner’s brother! The angst, tension, love it!
This could have been more angsty but I really enjoyed Richard’s character. I can tell he was written specifically to offset how mean spirited the young Celia was and it allowed their love to be more believable.
I liked a somewhat villainous heroine, I liked that she wasn’t fully absolved of her crimes. It was different.
Overall a good book. Could have done without the secondary romance, took away my much needed angst.
