DID NOT FINISH

I had to pick this up because of kpop. I had to put this down because it was insufferable and weird.

It’s hard to know what to say about this book. It wasn’t that it was bad or that I didn’t like it, more that I didn’t understand it.

What starts out as an interesting exploration of fandom descends into a deeply metaphysical exploration of idoldom and sense of self, and I’m afraid that’s where it lost me. An intriguing read though!

The girls who get it get it……….

a little too weird for me, but some of the prose/writing was very arresting.

everyone in this book is an absolute fucking weirdo

This was very…interesting. Felt very disjointed at times. Interesting commentary on idol/celebrity culture and parasocial relationships.

I don't know if this was a masterpiece or the craziest freaking book I've ever read. Just dumb four by it 🤔
