This graphic novel deals with PTSD in such a light way without losing any of the importance of the message. I absolutely love how softness and pain went hand in hand in this story. The art style feels so fitting to the story. I enjoyed it so much I was hoping for more content when the story ended.

The Golden Hour is an emotional story about a young boy with a love of photography, returning to school after a traumatic event and figuring out how to cope with his anxiety and PTS that surfaced as a consequence of said event. The art is absolutely gorgeous and visuals cinematic.
While it did feel quite emotionally bleak at times, it does end on a good note.

TLDR; Very sweet, I cried.

I read it in public ... which wasn't the best idea, considering I teared up like dozens of times. Would have sobbed uncontrollably if I would have been in the private of my own room.

This is a very reflective and emotional coming of age story that deals with the effect PTSD has on someone. I love how this isn't romanticised. Instead this graphic novel really depicts what a panic attack can look like.
I also love how the love story develops quite naturally in the background without being the sole focus.

I only can recommend this!

Ok so this was a pretty well written book. I feel like it got to the climax to fast tho, and it really didn’t have any action rising- it has well written grammar, but I think it could for sure use some work. It didn’t have anything about golden hours, which I was hoping it did, so I’m not at all sure where it got the title from. It sounds like something  that would be happy but it’s really emotional instead.

Golden Hours are happy hours that happen every now and then. But instead, they talk about bad hours in the flashback, like when Manuel was picking up afterschool stuff, but Ms. Winstone gets shot by someone unknown. I suppose the Golden Hours are him and his new friends, Sebastian and Caysha. It’s sad to think Bastian’s new calf he loves so much, Daisy, will be gone soon, but overall, good book for people who can handle emotional things.

Well written story. Great for people who can handle emotional flashbacks!
