I absolutely loved this story so much. When I read the blurb I knew I had to get my hands on it, since it was by a new arthur for me I didn't know what to expect and after reading it, well I'm afraid I'm a fan now. This book was just so damn good I didn't want to put it down the mc's Henley and Weston were perfect, the angst was on point and holey moley those hot af scenes geez talk about hot

Imperfect Angel

Hannah Gray Brooks University bk 03 Hate You Henley

Henley Hayes and Weston Wade have a love / hate relationship. It used to be all (platonic-ish) love and friendship. When things change, Henley goes so far down the rabbit hole that it's scary. I really like that Weston calls her on it and doesn't hold back when he reminds her of some of the worst-case scenario things that are real possibilities.

While she shows her maturity, or lack thereof, with why she does what she does, I must admit that what she goes through is heartbreaking. She doesn't handle it well, but once she gets a grip on it, I do like how she moves forward.

As for Weston, he is sometimes a jerk, but he is also one helluva stand-up guy. He occasionally needs some prodding to pull his head out of his behind, but on the whole, I admire how he looks out for Henley.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators Tim Paige and Desiree Ketchum and I like them both.

Some parting comments: I love the setups for other series with some of the side characters, as well as the check-ins with the couples in prior books in the series. The timeline overlaps with those books some, but you don't need to read them to enjoy this.

Story: 4 stars
Narration: 3.5 stars
Listening Speed: 1.6x

Weston Carter.
My kinda man. He is soft and sweet, but, also protective and puts up with none of Henley's shit.

This enemies to lovers is based on childhood bestfriends, who end up hating each other at the beginning of senior year. Weston left for football camp, and when he came home... his best friend, the LOVE of his life- Henley- was now a stranger and wants nothing to do with him.. to make matters worse.. she wants everything to do with Dane. HIS BROTHER.

Weston is a college football player and has always only had eyes for one person. Henley Hayes. Even before they could walk he was making sure to catch her when she fell.

Henley Hayes is just a normal girl who seems to have lost her way over the summer. Something traumatic happened and she can't come to terms with the guilt or the pain. She's rebelling, smoking weed and drinking until she blacks out. That numbs the pain. She's given up every dream she ever had... swimming for the olympic team, being a good daughter, and most of all.. she's given up Weston.

READ THIS BOOK.. It makes you feel what its like to put someone before yourself. To choose someone you would change all your life goals for them, because they are embedded into your soul. It gives you a look into making stupid choices without even thinking and how they effect you and those around you. SO GOOD. I love Weston Carter, but, I also love Henley and her side of things. She is struggling and its time to face her fears and be the woman he knows she can be.

Weston Wade + Henley Hayes = 5/5 ⭐️’s !

I thought I had a good idea of where this story was going to go but boy was I wrong in the best way .

Weston + Henley are destined to be together . After being born on the same day, growing up as next door neighbors + best friends, they just knew that one day they would be together forever as more than friends .

The summer before their senior year of high school, Weston leaves for football camp like always . Meanwhile, Henley finds out some information about Weston that hurts her to her core + she wants to hurt him back . Henley’s revenge turns out to be one of the worst and most traumatic events of her life that she will carry with her forever . She then starts to act out with excessive drinking, smoking, partying + of course hating Weston Wade . This makes for an interesting first year of school at Brook’s University where the two of them keep constantly running into each other .

Weston + Henley have so much chemistry but their fake hatred for each other + Henley’s grief get in the way of what they both want for a long time . They never give up on each other though because they know that some day everything will be aligned and they can finally be happy together . This was not just a friends to enemies to lovers .. this was a book about finding yourself . Finding yourself again after suppressing tremendous grief + trauma for a long time . Grief + trauma that no one can help you through besides yourself . This book hits you right in the feels in all the best ways possible and I can’t recommend it enough .

This is the third book in the Brooks University Series but can be read as a standalone . Please check the TW’s before reading this book as they are the overall theme for this book .

This book was sent to me for honest review by Wordsmith Publicity .

This book was a special story. We don't always get the kind of past that we see with Henley and Weston. Unfortunately it was full of lots of pain. When Henley felt that she was stuck in the friend zone with Weston, she made a decision that set her down a path of destruction, and one she would end up regreting.

But Weston is such an amazing man that he would not give up on Henley. He fought like heck and changed all his plans to try to keep and eye on Henley which was so sweet. Henley's spiral felt very real. The pain was real. And it hurt so much more when Weston learned the truth. But it was clear that these two were meant to be.
