A darn hard book to read. It made me shocked, a year 8 had been reading it in class and I'd said 'is this good? I'm thinking of reading it next'. God bless her this was not safe for work. It was smutty at its finest.

What I didn't expect was that you hated them both one for being in a toxic relationship and the other for being in an incestous one with his step-sister. And then they pull a hard-fast one at you at the end that cause you to fall in love with them.

I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I teared.

Cons:
Too much incest.

The characters in this book are so well developed as the book continues. The main character miles starts off so closed off and distant and it’s hard to really build a connection with him, you begin to think do you like him or hate him, but as the book continues his character unwraps as the author develops the character. The book for sure is a very sad, heart wrenching story and it can hurt to read at times, but the overall theme is hope. And overcoming mental struggles and flaws. I love how the booked ended, hopeful but also honest. It doesn’t give you a fairy tell ending because it’s not picture perfect but it’s perfect enough to be satisfying and beautiful to end on.

Things I liked:
• The parallels between the past relationship and the current relationship.
• The structure of how the past relationship is set out in the chapters.
• I actually liked the development of the past relationship more than the current relationship.

Things I didn’t like:
• The main lead and love interest spent no time together aside from sex before deciding that they loved each other.
• Neither character was really special, I felt like I had read the character a million times.
• Love interest treated the main lead like shit and was forgiven completely in the end just because of his revealed back story.
• I’m sick of books using “tortured tragic male with horrifying backstory” as a main leading plot device.
