Great book, especially reading it as an NHS nurse in its current state. Funny but also honest and heartbreaking. Only issue is that the blurb could have had like  trigger warning for something that happens near the end, but then that's not really to do with the book more most of publishing

Adam Kay is an incredible storyteller. If you or anyone you know has ever worked in healthcare, you must read his books. This is his most personal, and it's all the more impactful for it.

I loved Adam Kays first two books. This one is no different.

I truley believe he does a remarkable job at highlightling what goes on behind the closed doors of the NHS and the heros that work within it. That is even more prudent at this time where the NHS is hair away from collapse.

He give a intresting viewpoint of what happened behind the scenes of the  pandemic and the people that should have been leading us *cough* Handcock *Cough* .

This book made me both laugh and cry.

My only little niggle is that I wish some trigger warnings were maybe given at the start of the book as it goes into quite explicit food avoidance tactics and sexual assault.

On the final few pages he signs off with some very powerful messages. Two of which just helped me make my mind up about somthing I have been struggling with.  100% reccomend reading, just read the TW first.

This man is honestly so funny, the footnotes have me howling. Did make me cry at the end though.

Once again Adam has written a book that lays bare some really emotional and poignant truths about Healthcare, mental health, and moving on after giving up a profession that dictated your life.
In that sense I really loved and enjoyed this book. I just found that this book didn't work for me like his others though. There are some gross-out anecdotes that I could personally have done without and I would have liked more caution when discussing his manifestations of his eating disorder.
