When I read This is Going to Hurt, I couldn't imagine reading a book that pulled on my heartstrings more.

Undoctored managed it with ease.

I genuinely laughed, cringed and cried reading this book.  In one hand he'll feed you a funny story about his life and in the other he slaps you with the reality that life is sometimes hard, and he seems to have got somewhat of an unfair share.

He speaks with honesty about eating disorders, SA and mental health struggles alongside the institutional issues within the medical industry. It never feels hopeless, yet he doesn't sugar coat and I hope his writing on this topics helps those who need to hear it.

I can't fault this book, and I highly recommend picking it up even if its not what you usually go for.

The book is very funny and a great casual read. I loved the footnotes and writing which are informative and helps to show his personality and insight of his thoughts. We get to read more about his personal life and the heartbreaking challenges that he has faced throughout his life.

I had high hopes for this because I really liked This Is Going To Hurt but I didn't enjoy this one as much. It's quite a wide-ranging memoir which jumps around in his life and I didn't find it very cohesive, possibly because I listened to the audiobook. I also don't know if my sense of humour has changed or if this book had a different tone but I just didn't find it as funny as This Is Going To Hurt. The tone does shift from light to dark a lot and it includes some very heavy topics. I was expecting some of them but I wish I'd checked the content warnings beforehand to be a bit more prepared.

my favourite chapters in this book were the flashback chapters to his time in medicine. Although I prefer This is Going to Hurt, I still enjoyed it. (Definitely check trigger warnings - lots of dark humour used)
