This book had some beautiful and meaningful things to say about marginalization and oppressed peoples organizing. Lots of things I'd have never thought of, so much that felt applicable to my life and so much that was written decades ago that still rings true. Some of the texts were probably better experienced and understood in context which I felt I lacked, but overall an insightful and meaningful read. Very theory-heavy but also so clearly writings by a poet. I tried to find which text to call my favorite, I definitely made it through Uses of The Erotic and the final two texts the quickest, but some sleeper favorites were the first two and The Masters' Tools. Especially Lorde's observations when traveling and viewing the world through political as well as local lenses spoke to me (the bookends if you will).

This is a book I believe EVERYONE should read. Lorde beautifully speaks on the intersections of being Black, lesbian, and a woman while providing insight on how marginalized groups should work together to obliterate the barriers of this white, racist, misogynistic, heteronormative, homophobic, society.  An unbelievably refreshing & motivating reminder of our duty to take care of and stand with one another to tear down oppressive regimes.

I started this book during the election cycle and finished it after. It proved to be a source of comfort and solace and helped me work through some of the more complicated feelings regarding where we are as people. I would recommend this to everyone but there will be some tough pills to swallow.

incredibly powerful and insightful collection. some felt more relevant than others, but I was really struck by how much this work resonates with modern experiences. I did cry, but only once! this is probably a little bit of recency bias but I found Eye to Eye and Grenada Revisited (also a product of being political science pilled) to be particularly impactful, along with Uses of Anger. also special shout out to Master's Tools for being a piece I had to read practically every semester of college
