Not bad, but not something I think I'd seek out if not for my 6+ year devotion to Doctorow. Also not necessarily his strongest work. You'll probably like this if you're more into mystery?

Thought this would have more math and tech hijinks. Turned out to be a stilted blend of bourgeois- bohemian political gripes and Travis McGee-wannabe sexcapades. Lost me when the MC's escape from his actual burning car got less page time than the description of how he seared his steak.

Too bad, as I enjoy the author's blog. Will go back to reading his nonfiction.

A fantastically funny and well-written thriller. The subject matter is insightful and intense, and both the characters and plot were well-formed and multidimensional. I really loved the book and although I don't read many thrillers, this was really the first that got me engaged, wanting more, and savoured every twist and turn. Stunning and a brilliant read. Quite technical and could be alienating if you didn't know much about the context. Will definitely pick it up again.
