I chose to read this book, because I wanted to read the second installment (Broken Dolls: Deliverance) by the same author. The reviews I'd seen, talked about how the 2nd book hints at the first one throughout - so I wanted to fully understand the story.
I SHOULD HAVE JUST TRIED TO READ THE SECOND WITHOUT THE FIRST
This book is fucking brutal. It's a lot of 'body-horror' mixed with a TON of child sexual assault. Blood for the sake of blood, isn't really my thing... and I especially cannot stand abuse toward a child (especially how continuous it was in this book).
While I understand that the book ended the way it did, for a reason... there were 2 children in this story (Tully and Cody), and Cody's character was not only unnecessary, but was added only for torture (I believe).
Anyway... I'm going to need to read a couple of lighter, fluffier stories in-between this book and the next. I truly hope that Broken Dolls: Deliverance is better than this one.

This was a really sad story to read. What was even worse is that she WAS just trying to be a good person. Her daughter was amazing as well. What was shocking was how you could put two and two together on how he got the kid. InsaneðŸ˜.

We discover how Brett got Cody because he ended up getting a new kid to torture and abuse etc at the end .Tulla is probably going to die during the next home invasion or worse.
Other than that its just pdfilic grape, necro grape, every bodily secretion ever grape.A big bowl of shock value grape dipped in vomit and poop.
I am interested in extreme horror-dont know if its my cup of tea, but even in its own community-this one isnt great

I went into this book thinking it would be gorey and scary, but no—it was just straight-up disturbing. It’s body horror, SA, incest, and literally all the worst things in the world. It made me feel sick, and honestly, I just wanted to throw up.
And for what?? After all that, just to be defeated in the dumbest way? Super manipulative and pointless.
But the worst part? The way the author described the killer’s appearance—like, why did it feel like they were trying to romanticize him?? It was so uncomfortable to read.
Never again. This wasn’t thrilling, this wasn’t fun, it was just awful.
