This one does not hit. The twist(s) were trite. While I don't mind some predictability (when you read enough mysteries/thrillers it's bound to happen) it just wasn't interesting enough. A character having to do a total 180 (including in the way they talk) to fit the twists and only at the very end, just feels like a disingenuous “gotcha”.
Probably more like 2.5 stars. It's a bit too gruesome for me (so much stabbing!) and the premise is extremely silly. But entertaining enough and the end twists were pretty fun.
Here's a great thriller, in the style of Gone Girl! Meet Quincy Carpenter, who leads a seemingly normal life, baking delicious treats, photographing them and posting the results online. Her past is nothing like that comfortable façade, since she is the only survivor of a brutal attack that killed a group of college friends ten years ago. She is a member of a very small club, a "Final Girl." In the course of the novel, we meet some other survivors and Quincy is forced to relive memories that she has blanked out for ten years. An excellent page-turner of a book!

Very good thriller, Quincey's story kept me hooked up the whole time. It got a bit messy towards the end because in trying to distract you from the real reveal you're lead to believe at least 3 different things, but I fell for all of them, so I guess at least it was well done. Quincy is an excellent narrator, her choices are not always smart but she owns them, and her efforts to be "normal" broke my heart. The ending was good although not entirely satisfying, I wish there would have been a bit more development to the reason for the killings, but it works anyway. I'll definitely be checking Riley Sager's other books soon :)

This book keeps you on your toes. I've never had a problem reading thrillers before bed, but I honestly had to stop reading this about an hour and a half before heading to bed because I was feeling so antsy from the storyline!

The scenes in the book that take place in central park feel kind of like an intrusive thought that came alive, quite succintly by Sager, on page. It pleasantly surprised me, since I wasn't initially sure how it would be relevant to the plot but found myself enjoying it anyway.
