John Marrs is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! I’m going to be sad when I run out of things to ready by him. This storyline was heartbreaking and scary, especially because having only autonomous cars is not a far off thing! I could totally see it happening in our society one day. Once again, I love the alternating character viewpoints. Idk if anyone else guessed the plot twists but I didn’t see them coming at all! The only thing that was a little tough in this story, aside from the totally heartbreaking tragedies that occurred throughout, was that it was sometimes hard to keep all of the characters straight because there were the characters that we heard POV from and then also several jury members to keep track of. Overall, I was able to keep track of them, but I did have to google one at one point

I loved this book, until I didn't. The whole self driving cars getting hacked or trapping you inside has been a legitimate fear of mine since I learned that self driving cars could ever be a thing. That's a hard pass from me. However, when I saw a book about just that I HAD to read it.

I listened to the audio and with a full cast it was engaging, entertaining and nearly impossible to turn off. This book was full of drama and moments that made me actually exclaim or gasp out loud. I haven't been this engaged in a book in a long time and was having a blast reading...

Right up until there was, for me, a clear ending. It would've been vague and open-ended and pissed people off, but I think it would've been perfect. and yet. and yet this book had TWO MORE BORING HOURS. It's like I had to sit through two hours of the Villian's speech AFTER all the excitement happened. And then I along dragged out bit with an unnecessarily descriptive ending for the MC.

That all being said I look forward to trying another by this author in the future.
