This was a cute story! This is also my first book by this author and I loved how she incorporated their cultures and this sapphic love story. The reasoning between them going their separate ways was not what I expected, that fell flat for me. I did enjoy their rekindling since it was through their jobs and neither one of them expected it. It had its moments that had you in your feels but overall didn’t grab my attention like I thought.

"You don’t have to be this flawless goddess to date me. I’ve always just wanted you.”

This book, the characters, and the storyline had so much potential ... unfortunately, it felt like a cliche rom-com. I loved the concept of the "One who got away," and Gemma and how Celeste rekindled their relationship after a bad breakup 8 years ago BUT apart from this the book had no substance and was honestly the closest I've ever one to DNFing a book.

•"Let’s try the new place,” I say almost immediately. “I may be a long-term relationship, girlie, but that doesn’t mean I’m not a ho when it comes to dessert.” - crazy statement

I don't really have too much to say about this book. It was short and cute, but it didn't really stand out from other romance books that I've read in the past. When the reason why they broke up the first time was revealed and talked about between them, I couldn't stand the reasoning why Celeste was so mad at Gemma for moving on. I mean, Celeste literally disappeared without a word as to why, and apparently expected Gemma to stand around and wait.

Thank you to Lyla Lee, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for the AudioARC of this book. This is my honest review.
